what is reiki?

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese technique for relaxation, reducing stress, and healing (mental, physical, emotional, spiritual). It is a subtle yet effective and powerful form of energy healing using spiritually guided life force energy. Reiki energy is not based on belief, faith or suggestion, and it is being used in many settings all over the world including hospitals, hospice, as well as in private practice and in self-care.

is it religious?

While reiki is spiritual in nature - in that it provides love and compassion to the client - it is not a religion. Though it has been practiced for thousands of years, and it’s history is as old as some religions, it has no dogma and does not conflict with religious belief. People of many religions and belief systems all over the world practice reiki and find healing. It is a wonderful complementary modality in a personal wellness or healing program.

WHAT HAPPENS IN SESSION?

Reiki is a practice of transmitting healing energy through the hands. It is not massage. You will be fully clothed while reclining on a massage table or chair, and the practitioner will use hand placements on different locations of the body. If you prefer not to be touched, reiki will still work with the hands hovering over the positions.

what WILL I FEEL?

Reiki can feel different to each person, and can also change from session to session. Many people will experience sensations in the body, such as warmth, tingling, vibrations, pulsations, or a flow or change in the energy of the body. You will leave feeling more calm in both the body and the mind, and very relaxed!

long distance and virtual reiki

Virtual sessions where long distance reiki is sent, with a one-on-one discussion afterwards, are also available. This method does NOT decrease the potency or efficacy of a session. If you are immunocompromised, or not local, please contact me to set up a long distance session. Here’s what that looks like on my end:
